Filturaes, the Jamestown Police Department officer charged in the August 9th shooting death of TrexeoDev at the Jamestown Police Department garage, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, according to a plea agreement filed in the 7th Judicial Circuit on September 20th.
The plea follows a September 17th omnibus ruling from the County Court, which sits within the 7th Judicial Circuit, that allowed the murder charge to proceed to trial while dismissing a related gross misconduct count. Two additional charges — brandishing a firearm within a municipality and discharging a firearm within a municipality — had also been allowed to proceed.
Terms of the Plea
Under the agreement, Filturaes pleaded guilty to Count One, second-degree murder, in violation of 1 H.C.S. § 2002. In exchange, the People agreed to move to dismiss the two remaining counts — brandishing a firearm within a municipality and discharging a firearm within a municipality — upon the Court’s acceptance of the plea and entry of judgment.
The agreement states that no sentencing arrangement was made and that sentencing remains entirely within the Court’s discretion.
As part of the plea, Filturaes personally acknowledged the factual basis for the charge, admitting that on or about August 9, 2026, at the Jamestown Police Department garage, he shot TrexeoDev while TrexeoDev was incapacitated.
Unlawfully and with malice shot TrexeoDev while TrexeoDev was downed and incapacitated, causing TrexeoDev’s death.
Filturaes also waived his rights to a trial, to confront witnesses against him, and against self-incrimination. The agreement was entered pro se — without defense counsel — and signed by Filturaes and Assistant District Attorney A1exCarter on September 20th.
Judicial Suspension
Filturaes also serves as a sitting Justice of the Peace in Harrison County. According to an order list issued by the 7th Judicial Circuit on August 22nd, the Circuit Court accepted and ratified his temporary suspension from that role and as a judicial officer for the duration of the criminal case against him, HCR-26-0009. Judge EffortlessBrit took no part in the consideration of that matter.
The same order list ratified the appointment of DauuX as a Justice of the Peace — the same judge who issued the September 17th omnibus ruling in Filturaes’ criminal case — along with the appointments of SchmidtTCrapps as Chief Clerk and DeverusLazvari as an additional Justice of the Peace.
The order does not address what, if any, further action will be taken regarding Filturaes’ judicial office following his guilty plea.
What’s Next
The plea agreement is not final until accepted by the Court. Sentencing has not yet been scheduled. The Harrison Independent will continue to follow this case, including any further developments regarding Filturaes’ judicial suspension.
