Into the Campaign of M_ysticWavezzz: “Check My Work”

The District Attorney candidate promises written standards, weekly case reports, and a public record residents can check.

M_ysticWavezzz keeps his campaign pitch short, and it comes down to one idea: put everything in writing and let people check it. No big personal story and no attacks on opponents, just a promise of rules, reports, and receipts.

The Harrison Independent sent questionnaires to select candidates ahead of the November 1st election. These are M_ysticWavezzz’s answers, edited for length.

The Background

M_ysticWavezzz currently serves as Chief Assistant District Attorney for the Criminal Division in the Harrison County District Attorney’s Office, and also works as a Sergeant with the Jamestown Police Department. He gave no further history in his questionnaire.

The Case for Himself

“Criminal cases should be filed, charged, and explained in public,” he wrote. He says he wants to give the office “a steady, checkable process”: written standards, regular public reporting, and clear rules for conflicts.

Asked why voters should pick him over the other candidates, he kept it to one line: “I will put my rules in writing and publish my results every week, so you can check my work instead of taking my word for it.”

The Plan

His first move, if he wins, is to post the office’s charging, plea, diversion, and dismissal standards in writing. Within 30 days he would publish the first weekly case report showing what the office filed, declined, dismissed, and diverted, and why.

He sees the county’s biggest problem as the lack of a public record of what the office files, declines, and dismisses, along with too many filing errors. His fixes are a second-attorney rule that requires secondary review and approval for every filing, a monthly public count of open referrals, and a policy of assigning the oldest referrals first.

What He’d Leave Behind

M_ysticWavezzz says the realistic goals for a short term are posting the written standards, starting the weekly report, putting a conflict form in place, and setting up victim notice. For the next District Attorney, he promises a fully updated database and a handoff document with everything the successor needs to know.

On the Current Office

Asked what the last administration got right, he credited the office’s experienced investigators and said he would keep them. He would add public reporting and written standards so residents can check the office’s work. He also said he would look for better attorneys, which he described as a problem he’s noticed. He did not say who or what he meant, and that comment comes from someone who currently works inside the office.

On the Jamestown longarm ban, he said yes, he supports it. Xolaaz, another DA candidate, told us he does not. ElloM8HowAreYou skipped the question.

Where the Race Stands

The Harrison Independent’s election outlook rates the three-way District Attorney race a toss-up between M_ysticWavezzz, Xolaaz, and Acting District Attorney ElloM8HowAreYou. Ratings are editorial assessments, not endorsements or projections.

Voting runs from October 30th at 7:00 PM CT through November 1st at 6:00 PM CT.
